Each of these business valuation certifications has their own process for accreditation. Training, education, testing, and experience are part of the equation. Active membership and re-accreditation is also required.
American Society of Appraisers (ASA)

ABV - Accredited in Business Valuation
- The ABV business valuation certification has been in around since 1997.
National Association of Business Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA)
CVA - Certified Valuation Analyst
AVA - Accredited Valuation Analyst
- The CVA business valuation certification has been in existence since 1991 and the AVA designation since 1999.
Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA)
CBA - Certified Business Appraiser
- The CBA business valuation certification has been in around since 1978.
